ABSTRACT: The present work addresses a very current topic in the world today, since due to the pandemic that we face caused by a virus, and the lack of information of the population together with disinformation on the subject, made everyone turn to science in response. . From that, questions arose, about what a virus would be and what would be the best method to disable its biological action and prevent the disease that it causes. The research presents one of the methods that is being widely used for prevention and was carried out in the form of a bibliographic review, based on academic works by researchers in this specific area, with the intention of solving doubts that protein denaturation occurs and consequently the inactivation of the virus. Enveloped when it comes in contact with alcohol gel. The processes recommended by Organs world health agencies are: washing the surface with soap and water and using alcohol gel for cleaning, since both are effective and denature the viral envelope. After research, the biological and chemical aspects are valued in order to be understood and preceded during this process, from the constitution of the virus to its inactivation caused when in contact with alcohol gel.
KEYWORDS: Viruses, denaturation, inactivation.
