From this, the higher education institutions developed the process of remote monitoring during the social distancing period, to be another tool for direct assistance to students. The present work aims to report the process of creating a digital portfolio as a pedagogical tool in the period of remote monitoring experienced. This creative process was incited and guided by the thoughts and studies of Educator Paulo Freire and the Geographer Yi-Fu Tuan, being created the contextualization of the photographs of the material as a way to stimulate the feeling of belonging, explained by the Geographer, and the mutual exchange of knowledge, in addition to feedbacks between students and monitor during the period of construction of material, thus seeking to follow the concept of educational process established by Freire. During the development of remote monitoring and the construction of content concomitant with this activity, the lack of participation of students at the time of monitoring was verified; this fact recurs in the general context of monitoring, with greater participation of students only at moments that precede the verification of learning; the technological evolution has provided amplitude in the educational process. However, the student profile remains the same, either in person or remotely. The need for new research is emphasized in order to profile the students of this new generation, "thumb generation", in terms of the level of commitment to their academic background based on the knowledge of educational guidelines.
