ABSTRACT: The Mobile phone are a potential means of bacterial contamination and dissemination, including pathogenic bacteria such as S. aureus, that have a peculiar ability to develop antimicrobial resistance. The present study collected health course students cell phone devices with the objective of evaluating the antimicrobial susceptibility profile of S. aureus strains, using law students as a control group. There was a bacterial growth in 82.5% of the samples collected from the target group and S. aureus was isolated in 37.5% of the phones. The identified strains showed high resistance to penicillin and erythromycin. To counter or advance bacterial resistance, simple actions must be captured, such as proper hand and cell phone hygiene.
