ABSTRACT: The algaroba (Prosopis juliflora) is a species that has high economic value in animal feed, especially the consumption of its pods. In addition, it has been shown to be an alternative for the control of invasive plants, favoring a reduction in both the use of chemical pesticides and the risk of contamination. The objective of this research was to investigate the allelopathic potential of different concentrations of extract from p. juliflora leaflets on the germination of the invasive species B. pilosa. Five concentrations were used, 0 (control); 25; 50; 75 and 100% of P. juliflora extract, with four replications of 25 seeds each. The percentage was evaluated; speed; speed index and average germination time. The algaroba extract does not negatively affect the germination process of black picão seeds, and is therefore not indicated for the control of this invasive plant.
